Through our partnership, we set out to tackle the climate crisis by investing in programmes to build and protect the resilience of communities to climate-related shocks.

Green Climate Fund overview and programmes

GSK is supporting Save the Children to design two programmes to build more climate-resilient health systems and communities in Senegal and Malawi which, once approved, will catalyse an investment of over USD $60 million from the Green Climate Fund, the world’s largest climate fund dedicated to helping developing countries take climate action.

Anticipatory Action

Building on the partnership’s previous humanitarian work and legacy, we aim to strengthen Save the Children’s Anticipatory Action work to improve early action to potential humanitarian crises, as well as Save the Children’s Emergency Health Unit’s capability to respond to climate-related health emergencies.

Sarah's story

"I miss spending time and chatting with my friends.I am hardworking. I play a lot with friends and I don't fear anyone.

One thing I would wish for is that rebuilding of our house should start... so that I can go back and live there as I used to at first.

My house was strong but it collapsed and one favourite thing about my house was the flowers that were behind the house. Both my parents and I felt so much pain. The journey pained my parents and me so much, because we lost all our food due to floods.”

Sarah, 11, was displaced from her home in Malawi in January 2022 when cyclone Ana forced the Shira River to burst its bank, flooding her home and all of the surrounding land. One of the things she misses most while living in the refugee camp is the flowers that were around her home.
